Combi Unit for Regional Market

Modern airports have for many years installed comfort and quality equipment such as passenger boarding bridges, fixed 400 Hz power and PCA to service big jets at narrow-and wide-body gates.

With the expansion of the regional jet market, the market will experience an increasing demand for the same high-class comfort and quality equipment for gates accommodating these types of minor aircraft.

Regional jets sometimes require 400 Hz power – sometimes 28 VDC for the supply of electrical onboard equipment. The type of power is often related to the size of the aircraft / the number of passengers that it carries. Typically, the same gate would require a 400 Hz source in the morning when the bigger RJs are docking – but 28 V during the day. A combi GPU from AXA Power suits this demand.

By the way, the 28 VDC add-on module can be added to any – even to already existing - AXA 2200 400 Hz compact modules. The connection of the two modules is simple. It only requires a few bolts and a connection to the 400 Hz output before a combi unit is born.

Combi units can be for either simultaneous or single output use. However, should the 400 Hz and the 28 VDC outputs be for simultaneous use, the supply the 28 VDC add-on module requires an AXA 2200 compact 400 Hz module which is 20 kVA larger than the 400 Hz output requirement.

As any other AXA 2200 modules, the combi solution can be mounted in both horizontal and vertical positions to suit different requirements.

One of AXA’s main objectives is to keep things simple. With the introduction of the add-on module, stand design becomes even simpler as the new add-on module can be added at any time and to any physical or electrical application.
